Our organisation has delivered a wide range of play activities and services to children and young people (0-16yrs) including children and young people with additional support needs and their families for 17 years.

RAPA promotes “integrational play” to all children and young people accessing our service by providing a wide range of accessible Play Equipment, Play Activities and Play Resources both outdoors and indoors at the “Playground”.

We are open 6 days a week (50 weeks per year) providing a wide range of social, recreational and educational opportunities for children and young people and their families. We thrive to encourage and assist all children and young people to learn new skills and to become more physically active by providing a range of “Play” opportunities outdoors at the playground such as:

• Football (girls, boys & mixed teams)
• Tennis
• Basketball
• Volleyball
• Hockey
• Netball
• Rugby
• Assault Course Challenges
• Family Sport Days
• Parachute Games
• Bikes, Trikes & Go-Carts

And full access to the Outdoor Adventure Play Equipment such as:

• Swings
• See-Saw
• Chutes
• Aerial Runway
• Tyre Swing
• Assault Course
• Climbing Frame & Space Net
• Wheelchair Accessible Swing
• Wheelchair Accessible Roundabout
• Pre 5 Play Area
• Sandpits
• Floodlit Multi Purpose Games Court

All of which promotes children and young people’s experiences of “Active, Healthy Lifestyles”.

We also provide a range of “Structured Play” opportunities such as:

• Arts/Crafts Workshops
• Photography Workshops
• Fashion Show Workshops
• Graffiti Art
• Music & Dance
• Talents Shows
• Movie & Popcorn Nights
• Table Tennis Coaching
• Cookery Workshops

Young people are also invited to participate in a rolling programme of Issue Based Discussion Groups such as:

• Anti Bullying
• Anti Territorialism and Gang Culture Issues
• Anti Sectarianism
• Personal Health & Safety Awareness

On Sunday evenings from 6.00pm to 8.00pm we currently provide a “Drop-in Provision” indoors at the project for young people aged 12 to 15 years as an alternative to being on the streets. Activities on offer are:

• Pool
• Table Tennis
• Board Games
• Arts & Crafts
• Games Consoles and Interactive Quiz Games
• Music
• Informal Discussions

This service also provides regular opportunities for young people to meet up socially for a chat and meet new friends.

During Term Time, our trained staff currently work in partnership with 8 Special Education Needs Schools in Glasgow to provide support and play experiences for children with additional support needs.

The “Playground” environment and the range of play activities and resources we offer provides continued support for children and young peoples physical and personal development and creates opportunities for learning new skills.

We recently secured funding to develop RAPA’s Sensory Room which enables children with Special Needs and Able Bodied children to experience a selection of Sensory Play Resources in a calm, therapeutic interactive play space.  This unique room easily transforms into a BallPool Room and Soft Play experiences for children thriving for an active and lively play space.

Overall, our Service continues to promote “Holistic Health & Well Being” for all children and young people and their families. We encourage families to participate in the “RAPA Fitness Challenge”. As a result parents and carers and their children have took part in many Family Fun Days and Family Sports Days at the project ,which have proved to be popular and a great fun experience for all of the family.
